I have a lot of sites that I visit and some that I have discovered lately which I consider entertaining as well as useful. Some may be well known to you, while others obscure. Here are some of those sites which I recommend you check out, in no particular order:
- Digg.com – full of news about EVERYTHING.When I say EVERYTHING I mean EVERYTHING: technology, sports, politics, science, news, (yes even) arts, social sciences, stupid videos on YouTube, stupid people on YouTube and oh so much more. If the actual articles don’t interest you there are always the flame wars in the comments to watch for.
- Speaking of YouTube – if you don’t know what YouTube is please, oh please come out from under your rock and join us on the internet. Sure you can upload your own home made videos and flex your director’s muscle, but it’s much more fun to browse and see what the latest stupid thing someone has done and filmed (oh and there’s video blogs along with tv shows and movies too).
- MapMyRide – just ran (haha) over this site today, kind of like G-Map Pedometer but with more features. Both these sites allow you to interface with Google Maps and plot your walk, bike, hike etc. and gather different statistics (distance, elevation, and so on). MapMyRide also has different check points for those of you interested in Triathlons and not only.
- del.icio.us – have you ever been to a friend’s house and wanted to show him/her an awesome site but you couldn’t find it? Do you have it bookmarked at home and wish you could teleport to get the URL? Well wish no more! With del.icio.us you create (and optionally share) online bookmarks of any site you visit. It is stored in your account and is therefore accessible from anywhere. With Firefox you can also install an extension to take over your normal bookmarking and add it straight to your del.icio.us account. Delicious, n’est-ce pas?
- Lifehacker.com and Lifehack.org – are both great sites for all sorts of information. While Digg is user submitted, these sites are blogs and take on a more formal look (plus most of the interesting links on Digg point to one of these). Again full of technology updates and news, they also contain great tips for every day life (managing finances, “MacGyver” tips, business, etiquette and much more)
I will stop here for now though there are more I could speak of. In the near future I will make a list of the RSS feeds I subscribe to and speak on them. Until then, I leave you with a link to a video of the genius of the month for last month.
