Canadian comedian Russell Peters will be hosting the 2008 JUNO Awards on April 6th. If you don’t know what the Juno’s are, Wikipedia says: “The Juno Awards are presented annually to musical artists and bands to acknowledge their artistic and technical achievements in all aspects of Canadian music.”
Peters is best known for his “You gotta beat your kids so they don’t feel left out” bit, however his comedy crosses all racial and ethnic boundaries. He pokes fun not at the actual races or ethnicities but rather at the stereotypes society holds of them. To give you a taste, from his DVD “Outsourced,” here is Russell speaking about passports and anti-terrorism measures:
I had the chance to catch his sold out, 2007 Canadian tour at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. He is the first comedian to sell out at the ACC. If his performance on the Junos is half as good as any of his performances, it will be a great show.
