A bit of history that at one point during my schooling in Romania I knew:

On February 5th, 1862, Alexadru Ioan Cuza merged Wallachia (?ara Româneasc?) and Moldavia(Moldova) forming the United Principalities (what was to become years later the Kingdom, then the People’s Republic, then the Socialist Republic and finally just Romania).

Pretty impressive. I really enjoy learning about the history of Romania and luckily En.Wikipedia.org and Ro.Wikipedia.org make it very easy to find information in one place. Especially when it is mentioned on the front page.

The turks try assaulting it but the real fort is about 100 metres in, behind another ~3 metre thick wall.
